Temples Galore: Thai Edition

April 2019

📷

Our first task for the day was to prepare ourselves for the poor air quality, so we purchased face masks. Breathing pretty, we were ready to walk around the city and explore the many temples.📷Looking good While visiting any buddhist temple it is important to follow the rules, including the dress code (knees covered, shoulders covered, and overall modest dress). The same dress code was followed in Cambodia, but here in Thailand it is strictly enforced. With over 25 temples in Old City alone, we were only able to visit a small portion. That being said, I’ll just post a few of the ones we did see.📷📷Wat Phra Singh 📷So much gold 📷Thai iced tea frappes (one with lime) 📷Moat encircling the Old City 📷📷Wat Ched Lin 📷📷Men only 📷Wat Chedi Luang 📷Wat Phantao 📷Three kings monument After a day of temple trekking, all that was left was to eat dinner. One of the more famous, and delicious, northern Thai dishes is Khao Soi (a curry noodle soup). We were able to find a place that serves a vegetarian rendition, and were not disappointed!**The next morning, however, I was a bit disappointed when I found out that the vegetarian was probably not vegetarian, as the broth usually contains oyster sauce, fish sauce, and shrimp paste.Through with our tasty meal, we stopped by Manung Bar, for a quick drink and to enjoy the atmosphere. They even had their own bar cat perched on the counter, waiting scritches! Full and satisfied, we caught a Grab car back to our hotel and slept early in anticipation of our 7 AM departure.
