🎵 Waking up early is hard to do 🎵Like most tourists visiting Angkor Wat, we opted to see the sunrise over the temple. There are many ways to see Angkor Wat and the surrounding area. You could walk (no way!), rent a bike or scooter, go by Tuk Tuk, or hire a private driver. We chose the most expensive route by hiring a private driver ($35 for the day). If you ever make it out to Angkor Wat, we highly recommend this method of transportation for a multitude of reasons, with AC being high on that list. Our driver, Synon, was amazing, and he even had cold water bottles and lemongrass infused cold towels for us every time we got back in the car. There is no good way to describe the wonder of these temples, you really have to experience it for yourself. Each temple is completely unique and varies just as much as the intricacies of the individual carvings. We felt a sense of splendor, wild jungle, peaceful reflection, and militaristic fanfare, but they all live up to the country’s motto: Kingdom of Wonder.I will just let the small selection of pictures speak for themselves:📷Sunrise at Angkor Wat from the reflection pool

After 9 hours of temple trekking in staggering heat and humidity, we were elated to make it back to our hotel. Soaked from sweat, we all rinsed off immediately (whether in the pool or the shower) and changed into dry clothes before grabbing some much needed food. Too tired to go anywhere, we ate the hotel’s deli and patisserie – The Glasshouse. Following a lovely meal of sandwiches, salad, soup, and ice cream, we headed back to our room and promptly passed out. Some serious napping was in order.Post nap, refreshed and hungry, we ordered a large Tuk Tuk via an Uber-like app to take us to dinner at George’s Rhumerie Restaurant. This restaurant specializes in French-Asian fusion food and house-made rum……yes please! This place gave us all a serious food coma, and when we returned to our room, we crashed hard.📷Remorque (a large Tuk Tuk)📷Get me to the Rum
