Along the Pyrenees

March 8, 2020

After a fun couple of days in Andorra, it was time for a road trip! Getting out of Andorra via France requires driving over a fairly high elevation pass. It was a beautiful day and had snowed that night, so we had some spectacular views.

Even though Bilbao is technically faster to access via the Spain side of the Pyrenees, since we're coming back to Barcelona, we figured we could see both sides the mountain range this way. Plus, we got to see the beautiful French countryside!

We stopped for lunch and petrol in the town of Pau and had some time to walk and explore.

Soon we were back on the road headed to our last stop before Bilbao: Biarritz. Originally a popular resort for European royalty in the 1800s, it’s also a major surfing destination with its long sandy beaches. We decided to check out Rocher de la Vierge, a local landmark on the sea.

After another couple of hours of driving, we finally arrived at our hotel. Ready to crash, we quickly grabbed some food and slept early that night.
